BUSINESS SUMMARY
Founded in 2000, this Virginia based company is a highly reputable and leading provider to the US government in aviation weather and functional analysis of air traffic operations, state-of-the art simulation models and analysis tools. The company offers expert advice to air navigation service providers, aerospace companies, and flight operations. The services the company provides promote a safer and more efficient operating environment for airlines, airports, passengers, and aircraft operations.
The company is one of the very few that has expertise in translation of weather information into aviation operational impacts, air traffic management, and data analysis. The company primarily differentiates itself by its meteorological experts, a deep knowledge of how the National Airspace System (NAS) works, and its proprietary capabilities in modeling and simulation, data analytics, and systems engineering.
INVESTMENT CONSIDERATION
- Superior Reputation: For over 20 years, the Company is seen as a recognized industry leader in aviation weather and functional analysis of air traffic operations, state-of-the-art simulation models and analysis tools, and expert advice to air navigation service providers, aerospace companies, and flight operators. The Company is one of very few companies that have core expertise in the translation of weather information into aviation operational impacts.
- Experienced & Tenured Staff: Staff includes highly-qualified meteorologists, mathematicians, aviation experts, software and system engineers, and operations researchers. Majority of the staff is highly educated and have either a Masters and/or PhD degrees. Key personnel possess extensive operational, concept engineering, and product development experience in aviation weather and air traffic management, as well as airport and airspace operations.
- Proprietary Technology:
- The Similar Weather Analysis Tool (SWAT) is a proprietary analysis capability that identifies similar convective and non-convective weather events as well as resulting impacts within a large multi-year data archive in an expeditious manner (less than one minute).
- Dynamic ATM Research Technology (DART) is a weather-aware, runway-to-runway, superfast-time National Airspace System (NAS)/Air Traffic Management (ATM) simulation model and historical weather and traffic playback capability.
- Urban Air Mobility Weather Impact Model (UWIM) which translates and visualizes the impact of various weather phenomena- wind, reduced visibility, high/low temperature, rain, snow, freezing precipitation and others on UAM operations.
- Weather Scenario Generator (WSG) is a capability to create controllable and meteorologically-realistic scenarios including both observed and forecast weather phenomena to support myriad of aviation weather impact research.
- Weather Delay Prediction Capability (WDPC) is a capability to predict weather delays at major US airports (Core 30 Airports) up to 72 hours in advance based on available weather forecast generated by the NWS models.
- Vast Historical Data: The Company collects and archives vast amounts of weather and air traffic operations data on a daily basis. The Company may be the only Company in the US offering such deep historical archives, and it has also developed a substantial suite of aviation/weather data analysis tools and methodologies, unique in the industry. While the historical data is focused on US/North America, the analysis tools and methodologies are sufficiently flexible to be applicable internationally as well.
- Active Government Contracts, Longstanding Client Relationships: The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the Company’s largest customer. This relationship has been in place for over 20 years. As a prime contractor for the FAA Aviation Weather Division, the Company understands National Airspace System requirements for weather research, mission analysis, concept exploration and development, concept alternative analysis, capability shortfall identification and prioritization, modeling and simulation, prototyping, pre-operational trials, operational trials, and demonstrations for the FAA’s Next Generation Air Transportation System, or NextGen.
- 2015- The Company won its first NASA contract (Small Business Innovative Research/SBIR) which was followed by two sub-contracts and another SBIR.
- 2017- The Company won its first Department of Defense (DoD) contract (IDIQ) as a subcontractor.
- 2019- The Company won a NASA SBIR Phase III contract as well as a multi-year prime contract with the FAA to support FAA’s Weather in the Cockpit (WTIC) research program.
- 2020- The Company won a NASA SBIR Phase I contract to develop an autonomous NAS monitor for Traffic Management Initiatives (TMI) reduction.
